When it comes to your wedding day, there is a lot to consider. There are plenty of ways to make your day feel more catered to you as a couple and make it all the more unique! You can choose to do a first look, have a few fun games at your reception, or add some meaningful aspects to your ceremony.

With countless ideas and moments to incorporate, it’s easy to miss out on a few very important things to consider. So, I wanted to shed light on one of those things today that I find to be a total game-changer when it comes to your ceremony. And that is… (drumroll please…) having an unplugged ceremony!

But, what is an unplugged ceremony? An unplugged ceremony means that your guests- phones, cameras, and all electronic devices are to be turned off and put away at all times during the ceremony. There are countless benefits to this so, let’s get into it!

Here is why you should consider having an unplugged ceremony.

01. Limits Distractions

The last thing you want during your ceremony is alarms and ringtones going off or seeing someone scrolling through Facebook. Now, hopefully, the ladder would never happen, but mostly everyone has that one family member that likely would. Having an unplugged ceremony will eliminate the possibility of having any distractions or interruptions during your ceremony.

02. It’s Your Moment to Share

If your guests are allowed to have their phones out, they are likely going to be taking photos and videos. This means that there will likely be moments of your day being posted onto social media before you’re even done enjoying it all. Your wedding day is yours to share and so having a no phone, no camera policy can help keep those moments for you to share in your own time and way.

03. Helps Out Your Photographer

As a photographer, I can tell you that there is almost nothing worse than having to dodge the countless arms and phones that are in the air or sticking out in the aisle during a ceremony. Having an unplugged ceremony will greatly help out your photographer and help save your photos from having those pesky phones in them.

04. Helps Your Guests to Be More In The Moment

Watching the moment through a phone screen is not the same as seeing it in real life. Without the distraction of feeling the need to film and take photos of it all, your guests will be able to fully immerse themselves in the moment. You’ll have it all documented by your photographer and videographer anyways. So, all your guests need to do is, enjoy it!

05. Makes Receiving Your Photos More Exciting

You will be SO much more excited about receiving your photos- as will your guests. While you’ll have plenty of footage from your guests from the reception, that sacred time during your ceremony will be delivered to you in a beautifully captured way.
