When it comes to engagement sessions, your outfits can dictate a lot of how the photos wind up looking. The colors can completely change the feel and the style can alter your comfort level. For this reason, it is important to put a lot of care into choosing your outfits for your engagement session. So today I thought I would share a couple of tips to help you in choosing the best outfits possible!

 

01. SELECT A COLOR PALETTE

First things first, start by selecting a color palette for your outfits. My recommendation for this is to check out Pinterest to find inspiration for what colors mesh well together. Once you have your color palette picked out, everything gets much easier as it limits your options exponentially.

 

02. WHEN IN DOUBT STICK WITH NEUTRALS

If you are having a hard time picking from the large lists and combinations of color palettes, stick with neutrals! You can almost never go wrong when working with neutrals. Coordinating them with your partner and the setting is super easy.

 

 

03. COORDINATE YOUR STYLE

Next, be sure to coordinate your style and level of dress to your engagement session with your partner. If you are wearing a dramatic and elegant evening gown, make sure they are wearing dress pants, not jeans. If you decide to dress down, make sure you are both dressed down. It should look like you are both going to the same place.

 

04. THINK OF THE SETTING

The location of your engagement session is a really big factor to take note of. You’ll want to make sure your color palette and level of dress mesh well with your surroundings. For example, if you are going to be in a big green field, you may want to stay away from color palettes with green to avoid clashing.

 

05. COMFORT IS KEY

This one is arguably THE most important. Your comfort is absolutely key. You can be in the cutest outfit with the most gorgeous shoes, but if you aren’t comfortable, it’ll show in the photos. You want to make sure that whatever you wear is comfortable and makes you feel confident!
